Goin’ places

So this blog is due to change a bit

I’m leaving my home town - the beautiful Auckland, New Zealand - and going travelling. So rather than posting pics and videos of what others are doing in the hills, I’ll be having some adventures of my own.

Posts will become even less frequent, but they will be quality when they do arrive.

First stop? Climbing the beautiful granite cracks on the Lofoten Islands in the North of Norway. The main objective is Vestpillaren on Presten (below). After that I hope to head to the Alps in September and climb some big routes on some big mountains.

Stay tuned.

Excellent, perfect production - video by Andy Mann

Siegrist comes across really well on film, humble, direct, specific, basically all round inspiring. Check out his footwork, it’s super precise, in the exact right spot every time.

Dave Mcleod on his latest send - a free ascent of the Longhope Route on St. John’s Head. This climb is on an island to the north of Scotland. The face is covered in seabirds - birds which projectile vomit over anything that comes close.
Did I mention that the climbing is up to E11?? The crux pitch is 65m long and has climbing up to 8b+ (say whaaaaaaat??). On runout trad. Holy crap.

It was filmed, so expect a farkin’ awesome climbing movie to follow

Is it worrying that this is pretty much how I want my life to be?

It’s a kinda strange situation when your hero is only like 1 year older than you…

Magnus Midtboe on Master’s Edge (E7 6c) at Millstone in the UK. Really impressive! Especially for someone who’s known for climbing some of the hardest sport routes in the world.

Gertrude Saddle, New Zealand.

Sorry for being pedantic, but this is the McPherson Cirque, Gertrude Saddle is behind this wall. Such an amazing place! I highly recommend going there in winter (the waterfalls become ~200m ice climbs).
